If you’re aware that the United States is the only developed nation without a federal paid family leave policy, then you’re probably also aware that Americans have to piece-meal financial plans together for time off.

This was the case for me during my second pregnancy, which happened to be with a new company. After manually working through New York PFL FAQs, contradictory information from my organization’s insurance company, HR team, and other parents within the company, I was left wishing for a calculator that would aggregate all the info into a handy chart that at a glance could show me how much time off I could afford; i.e., how much money I was leaving on the table.

So, i built it. Check out the birth of Callie Calculator.
